Fighting with Stranger Beasts

Get ready to battle some weird and strange extra-dimensional beasts!

Pfweeh, this week was a bit of a struggle! My wife and I were sucked into Stranger Things' last season (loved it!) and so I only started on my track on Saturday. I've been wanting to do more VGM composing and want to focus on that this year, so I figured: why not combine them? What could go wrong?

Not sure if the 80s Stranger Things vibe really came through, I ended up using more Chrono Trigger samples than FM stuff, but I'm happy with the result. The track only really started coming together this Sunday evening, I was feeling pretty meh about it in the morning still.

Also, I think this is my first WB track with a fade-out—I think it's important to compose an ending—but I think the VGM feel warrants it.

I feel the sidescrolly fighter energy in this one. For only starting on Saturday you made such a multidimensional movement! Each segment feels great and well paired with each other.

Dude, This is killer! love the dialog between the two leads. has a bit of Undertale vibe to it too! rocking it!

Really fun track! I would have guessed it was on some real hardware. Wish there was more, but that's weeklybeats baby.

aw yeah!

Hah, multi-dimensional! I see what you did there!

Thank you for the love, scottux, and nice to see you around here still! smile

Well that's a compliment in my book for sure!

That's funny, because the M8 is the closest to hardware I've ever gotten, haha. I write my LSDJ stuff in an emulator even and never owned any hardware synth.

Also wished there was more, I might continue this at some point smile

No, you aw yeah!

Yais love chrono trigger and loving the melodies you have interweaving each other.  Feels like i'm taking on a monster with 4 new friends heart well done!

Those chord sweeps *chef's kiss*

From the opening alone, the battle music really comes through! This one gets a fav, for sure

That rhythm, god damn.

The chord change in the main melody sequence starting 0:10 is sublime as well, love this.

smile It's funny, cause I feel like I *always* do those and I need to do them less. Though I guess a track like this asked for it.

Thanks, Rocco! If I'd have more time I probably would've done one of those weird diminished run-ups you had when transitioning into battle.

So happy to hear that! ^_^

This is fantastic! I definitely get a late 16-bit or PS1 RPG vibe from this. Probably because CT samples in part, but it has a sort of adventure/battle vibe. It's really good!

Damn, the switch-up at about 30 seconds goes IN. Feels like I'm playing Kirby or something.

really agree with wisefire about it having a bit of an undertale vibe too, it's sick!!

Thanks! Played those a ton and Uematsu's one of my GOATs, so very happy to hear I got the vibe down smile

Ooooh, I can see that comparison smile Kirby has some seriously good (and underrated) soundtracks, though, not sure if I can live up to that, haha big_smile

I feel like I know the entire sound track by now, still need to get around to playing /smh New year's resolution smile

Many kinds of amazing righchere yer honer!
The beginning sounds like It’s MMX4 then into odd combo of it and MMBN which moves into some cutem up then ends with that def RPG battle vibe.

Really on point with the VGM vibes, it's like a beautiful mix of a cavalcade of games.

cute

Def feel the VGM inspo! Great stuff
