Wicked Mountain

Remake of a song I wrote in... what? 2015? Time surely flies.
The idea was to make something that sounded calm yet sinister, that became gradually more intense until the final part where the trumpets kick in, then they faded out as the idea was for this track to loop, since it was originally meant for a game (which is why it ends so abruptly, I really didn't come up with an ending idea that was more creative than just playing the beginning part again while it faded out, sorry for that).
Also yes, this is from an era when I really tried to make my music sound like something out of Touhou, as of now I don't really try that anymore but old habits die hard (and I really like the sound of ZUNpets) so lots of my current music keep that cheap Touhou ripoff sound even if I don't actively pursue it.

Yeah definitely caught the touhou vibes the moment that trumpet kicked in. Not a bad thing at all though, the song's still got a unique style. It leans towards a serious tone, but toes the line between menacing and adventurous. Great progression and cool melodies throughout, well done!

Super catchy right from the beginning. Very 'cinematic'. Well done! And those transpositions at the end works great.

Excellent use of the main theme and orchestration.  It gave me old school Squaresoft vibes.  Well done!

I caught the vibes from the start and now I wonder what it sounds like if it wasn't going for the Touhou aesthetic.

if I hadn't tried to go for the Touhou vibe I probably would have tried to go for a more orchestral feel, which would probably have been mostly done by replacing the trumpet by something else and using a different percussion.

Thank you! I pride myself on writing catchy melodies (or at least, things I feel that sound catchy), and even though I love transpositions because I feel like they allow you to experiment a song in different ways every time you listen to it, I normally don't make much use of them, so I'm glad to hear they worked out this time big_smile

Yeah, ironically enough despite this being originally from the time where I tried to make my things sound like Touhou on purpose, it's probably one of my less touhoulike songs from that era, I might remake more old music from that time later this year.
