77 Oniria Lane

By laguna on June 15, 2014 11:57 pm

I'm uploading this one 4 minutes before the deadline. Mix is a little bit sloppy, trying to deal with all that feedback.

Tools of the trade: Ableton Live 9, DubMachines M4L delay plugin, Meeblip for bass, Animoog for the thereminish laments, Danelectro PB&J modded delay pedal and my beloved crappy Zoomstudio 1204 cheap unit for some reverb.

I wanted some epic rap but I realised I forgot my mic and had to start over Sunday afternoon... Hope you dig some of its moments.

Peace!

oooooh the beat is so suhweet.  Shadowed hip hop is a good description.  All I'm doing is nodding my head!  I could def hear some lyrics over this.  Del the funky homosapien would sound awesome in this!  Really chill track, nice job! smile

Kinda reminds me of Spore Forest (probably my most favourite track of yours) or DJ Krush!
I love the feedback and resonance going on, so grimy but delicate at the same time. Good job on a challenging mix!

Great synth sounds. Floaty but anchored by the drum beat.

Yeah, man. It came from my deepest Krush/Shadow/Vadim/Spooky admiration. I started with a six or seven years old drum loop made in Modplug tracker, using all that MPC wizardry: accelerating the original beat from the original and downsamplig it to 12 bits and almost 2 octaves below, to achieve minimum memory footprint.

Basic stuff has almost no high-freq definition, so it gives me room to play with the synths. Hope to polish the mix for the Soundcloud release smile

Thanks for the headnodding, mate. This beat came from my deepest neck-breaking boom-bapping era (see Gify's answer), and I tried to make it simple but effective.

Deltron 3030's MC on this would be a dream come true, although the emcee that nailed it in my head was Jeru The Damaja... "Controling the mic like Fidel Castro rules Cuba"

Personal inspiration for this track was DJ Cam's "Hip hop pionners", a true atmospheric headbanger. Check it if you don't know it already, it's worth it.

And thanks for listening. Your track was dope, by the way smile

a gorgeous dreamy beat! I wish I wouldn't have to work right now otherwise I'd tune this in and chill on the sofa wink

awesome relaxed tune! And perfect use of the used instruments and techniques. I had the chance to grab DubMachines last week as well and i'm really looking forward to use it as wonderful as you are.

Great beat and a perfectly relaxed feel and excellent matching soundscape. Well done!

I'm not sure whether to sit and chill or get up and move.  Awesome!

Headphone music at its finest! Great feel, great work

Looking forward to hear your opinion on those. DubMachines is quite CPU hungry at 24b/96k and the sound is not the same as my Boss RE-20 (a hardware Space Echo emulation)... Anyway, I think it's really a good plugin with lots of possibilities

Hey thanks guys! I didn't thought of it as a chilled track... Thought it sounded a little bit dark... Glad you are enjoying it smile

LOL Bart the producer!!!

This is sooo delicious.. Kinda on the opposite end of the spectrum to my usual music, this is bassy and slow, while my music is high pitched and fast!

This is awesome and chill! I love those synth sounds and the mellow vibe. Nice use of those dub machines, too...I picked them up shortly after they came out and have been using them ever since.

This is really beautiful. I remember listening to these kinds of tracks in dingy, hookah-filled lounges in India.

I've been on a big DJ Vadim/DJ Krush/DJ Cam kick for the last week, and I think this is your fault. smile

Awesome, awesome beat, great pads--excellent work!
