Hagiography (Wood/Giles)

By Jim Wood on June 14, 2014 3:28 pm

Collaboration with the polymathic Vince Giles. He modified my original clips, then I partly modified them back ;-)

Vocal samples are from Snowflake's "Wake Up Kiss" (http://ccmixter.org/files/snowflake/45529). Additional vocals & cello pizz, me. Instrumental samples from the Adagio of Shostakovich's 15th symphony. Euclidean polyrhythms generated using the nifty Tonyspulses grid (http://www.ageofthewheel.com/2011/03/euclidean-rhythm-midi-file-resource-in.html).

I really like this. The opening is great. It's also really neat to hear your use of some of the material I made and how it's been transformed and stuff. Great work.

cool track ... so very very alien, not from this world, not from this worlds radios, nothing conservative in those artistic pieces ... so slow and wide fielded spacious for imagination ...coooool stuff, ... also a collaboration,,, very nice  :-)

Rich. I love the noise landscapes and how there are these pizzicato/stab things standing out with their reverb. Well done.

Thanks, and good to see you back this week!

Thanks. Working with Vince's sample transmogrifications was incredible fun.

Very strange (in a good way) and atmospheric! Scifi craziness!

Ah! Euclidean rhythms!  So great!  Excellent and disorienting processing, great use of the stereo field, constantly unexpected. Great work!

I must admit I only used them as seasoning (and in moderation).

Cautiously, and from the left side.

Hehe...

You've really mastered that alien sound.  Based on this and other tracks of yours I'd say you could be the biggest thing going in Alpha Centauri.  Awesome track, by the way.

Yeah, I was planning on moving there, but couldn't handle the excess baggage charges.

Wow! Very unique, despite the harshness of the individual sounds it comes together pretty well. Nice soundscape feel.

Great sound design on this one, I love it!

Thank you, kind sirs.

Very nice! And it's interesting to listen while mentally comparing it to Vince's track.

Thanks, and as I mentioned in my comment on your track, there's nothing like collaboration to encourage fresh thinking.

strangely beautiful as every time i'm stopping by! I like the fresh and unusal approach AND outcome. Even more great to see a collab here! I was used to work with me and myself the last months, maybe i should try this, too.
