Space Cabinet

Another synthpop thing, where the drums, bass, pad and bell were MIDI sequenced by M8 Tracker and recorded individually into the DAW, then leads were recorded afterwards.

Drums: MFB 522 - UA 710 - Malekko Scrutator
Bass: Vermona Mono Lancet - Moog MF Chorus
Bell: teaspoon - beer glass - phone mic - M8 Tracker - Marantz PMD 221 (cassette echo)
Pad: DSI Mono Evolver Keyboard - PMD 221
First lead: Korg MS-20 mini - UA 710 - Moog MF-101 - T-Rex Replicator Junior
Break "lead": same as above
Final lead: Arturia Minibrute 2 - UA 710 - Moog MF-101 - Replicator Junior

I can hear both subtle and non-so-subtle chiptune aesthetics in this -- unique sound. Lovely work.

Dark and cute, love it! Teaspoon is great!

Another great track, really like that final lead

Some really lush analog sounds here and great melodies as usual. Extra points for the MFB drum machine, I love my quirky MFB 503 and Kraftzwerg.

Even the chord hits alone are enough for me to like.

Great contrasting, both gnarly and smooth vibey sounds. Love the percussion, bass and pad sound heart

Thank you! The second lead style is definitely influenced by tracker/chip music. Also when I think about it, since the chords are a four oscillator mono synth transposed along with the bass (just with modwheel routed to change between major and minor), it gives it bit of a .mod feel where there'd often be just a couple of sampled chords used with no variation in the voicings.

Thank you! The teaspoon was just a quick test to sample via the phone directly into M8, so its usefulness took me by surprise. smile

Thank you! The MFB is great, always wanted to check out more of their stuff. The quirkyness and simplicity are strong points, but it was nice to sequence it from the M8 this time.

Thank you! Relying more on them was sort of a backup plan as sunday arrived with work to do and no leads recorded yet. smile

Sweet hardware list, looks like you've made great use of it. The modwheel to get poly sounds from a mono makes sense. Pleasing combo of chord progression, time signature (mainly 7/8?) + rhythm and different lead sounds. Enjoyed listening for sure.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it smile

Strong as hell entrance! Super cool blending of tones.
