stackup3 - no plan

By zirafa on October 4, 2020 11:59 pm

Recorded some drums with a new mic this past week and wanted to try making a track based on it. Like many of my WB submissions, I didn't really have a plan for this one. It ended up kind of going in a Talking Heads direction I think, but I'm not sure?? I had fun making it either way. I got lost trying to mix all the different parts, so apologies if it sounds crazy. I never know how much to pan, before I used to be super aggressive panning everything but now I seem to lean towards a very mono mix.

lil Blondie represent that sounds so good.  the tom roll into the muted cymbal is incredible.  is that an overlay?  I think I still hear the hi-hat over it, right?

PURE SKILL

the plinky plink (yamaha CS?) is awesome and I love the succinct outro (said the person who overuses fadeouts smile )

holla holla. tom roll is a cut-up overlay thing. plinky plink is the 0-coast!

0-coast is so shockingly versatile - I'm impressed!

Hey man, this is fantastic. I get a very good Steely Dan feeling. Awesome drumming and timeless guitsound. WOW. It is obvious, that you don`t need a plan to make good music.
