Falling

I wanted to challenge myself to write a song without drums.. Sometimes I find the drums to be a sort of "easy mode" add to make something sound cool, or change emotion quickly. I played around with a lot of sounds and instruments.. but ultimately, this just sounded best on a midi piano instrument. (not surprised at all about that)

I realized after I submitted this, that I didn't close the head room up before finalizing it.. but I couldn't re-submit so. hmm

I find a lack of drums usually better since it puts much more emphasis on the melody and harmonies. If you want a tip, it's possible to have more than one instrument. Two instruments can play the same track, in canon if need be, or split up the notes in registers and assign instruments to each.

If you're truly struggling with lack of drums, there's a distinction between drums and percussion.

Oh yeah, I know. this track only has 2 channels going at any given time.. so I left it all piano.. I played with changing it to other instruments, but it never sounded good

That's fair, though I suppose it could've changed instrument halfway through, even if it's just another piano.
