Bop

Came through as promised with a straight hip hop bop. Recorded some hip hop rhymes for the first time since 2018 and I'm pretty happy with the results! I tried to have my recorded tracks be as similar to my live sets where I DJ my own tracks (through Ableton) and use MIDI controllers to cue FX on my vocals as well. The original idea was that I was a one man hip hop shop, no hype man needed haha. A start contrast from when I played drums or did vocals in metal bands and had to form a democracy lol.

Not gonna go into too much detail on the track itself, spent most of the time on the drums and layered some samples from a Sample Labs sample pack for the guitar licks and strums and such, some more scratch fx samples, and a whole metric ton of Waves and Fabfilter plugins on the vocal chain. Then I loaded up my live effects rack and "performed" the vocal effects on the vocals with my MPD232.

I'm happy with how this turned out considering that my studio is in my dining room and definitely no treated, and I'm using a dynamic mic in my bedroom (also untreated), and I wrote these rhymes using speech to text on the way to and from work over the course of 24 hrs and recorded the vocals in less than 30 mins. The vocals still sound a little boxy to me but I've never been a perfectionist lol. I've managed to get some pretty dope festival slots while never actually releasing an alum or true release. Looking forward to playing some more live shows this year after a long hiatus.

I love this. Tight flow, the vocals sound great, and the vocal effects are dope as hell. I got you on repeat, will have to check out the rest of your submissions. Keep them coming in!

Solid production. Dynamic hypercardioid mic works better than large condensers on un-treated rooms... I do use a condenser myself but get loads of room noises. Nice track.

Wow, this is legit

Really dope stuff. Makes me want to see one of your live DJ sets

holy crap this is incredible

that high pitched descending string thing got me in a wu-tang mood.  great guitar too

also loved: "......look it up."

XYON!

With all due respect to your other tracks, this is by far the best thing I've ever heard you make. Everything top to bottom is great. The arrangement, mix and lyrics all hit home for me. My only critique (mostly just a taste preference), is that when your vocals are not present maybe try making the guitar tracks a little more present. But even as is, I would purchase this for 99 cents on itunes lol. Excellent work breh.
