That Day of Thine

By Xjs on June 7, 2026 11:40 pm

I don't know what happened, it was 11pm and I had nothing, but then, suddenly, there were a lot of words. What they mean, I don't really know. If you have an idea, please tell me.

Tried a few things I learned over the week in the mix. I still feel it could sound clearer, the tracks and frequencies could be better separated, but I can't seem to manage. I seem to always pick synths that are very rich in their own right, which makes it harder to mix everything together without muddying it. Not sure if that's it or if it's something else I'm missing — if you have any hints by all means do let me know smile

But alas, I'm still mixing with in-ears because I keep forgetting my big headphones. I'll try to remember them next week. That might make quite the difference.

This is so good. Your vocals and performance are the standout. I particularly like how at the end section the rhythm gets a little disjointed, not sure which way is up. The lyrics are enigmatic, so it adds to the feel of mystery.

Really like the sound design you have going on - would have loved having a bit of a return to that thick sound at the beginning for a bit to break things up.

Definitely agree that your synth sounds are rich! They sound amazing. If you’re having trouble with them fighting, maybe carve them up a bit with EQ. Your sounds all exist within a certain frequency, and if they overlap, they’ll fight a bit. If you low pass/high pass/carve out the sounds to their vital elements, each one will have their own space. Each one will get to sit more on the sonic stage without competition.
