!!TiME F0R S0ME 0LD5K00L 4CiD!!

I bought the new version of the D16 Roland plugins (808 - Nepheton 2, 909 - Drumazon 2, 303 - Phoscyon 2)
They are such an upgrade, at first I only got them to make up for the miniscule UI in the first version which are totally unusable on HDPI monitors, but they added a LOT of features and I wanted to experiment more with it.

Since I am some kind of a 303 "collector", I also bought Arturia's new Acid V plugin, which sounds nice and has some novel features, but not as featured packed and "authentic" as the D16 version.

There are two 303s in this track, D16's and Arturia's.

So, Acid being what it is, it's going to suck if you don't modulate the setup and I didn't want to spend hours making automation by hand, so I busted out the Faderfox UC4 and mapped parameters from all 4 devices to have a go with it live. This is the 3rd live take, which I decided to keep.

( PS: I am putting this BY-NC-SA in hopes to be picked up by Artist for his WB remix project XD )

Renoise 3
D16 Nepheton/Drumazon/Phoscyon 2
Arturia Acid/OP-Xa V

yesss the d16 plugs are so good! love how this covers the full range of the 303 sound but always feels tasteful smile

Layered 303s. Dude it’s so fun. There’s that call and response-ish bit between the two and it just makes me happy.

Only thing better than a 303 is 2x 303s

That is some good acid! That main lead line is infectious. Bon track!

sick track! you just mess with the filters and effects on a groovy melody and you got a track! I like it

great track, great grove and dripping in acid.

that faderfox uc4 looks very cool

certified oldschoooooool makes me want to reinstall Rebirth and make basically a worse version of what you have done here

eff it - did it LIVE!

Hell yeah, I'm always down for some acid 303's. I dig the eerie drones in the background. Tight drum groove too, this rocks.

Great acid, nailed the old school sound. I dig the interplay. Solid

00:51+ = big_smile big_smile big_smile   Great job tweaking that UC4

nice track! do you find that tokyo has much of a scene for techno and acid? I was there on vacation once about 5 years ago, and went out of my mind at Five G big_smile

A, cool to hear some great ITB acid!

This rules! Especially the 2:40-ish> gets really psyched!

Hell yeah! This might be the push I need to get d16. Pretty sure they’re Apple Silicon native now.

This came up again in the playlist and it’s still rad af

Yeah that UC4 was a good investment! quite flexible, reprogrammable on the spot, does both USB and DIN midi, can handle multiple presets... I initially bought it to control the digitakt's internal mixer live + control effects and whatnot.

On the one hand, I haven't seen much of it (not that I go out a lot). On the other hand, the first gig I attended had a real 909 and 303 in the set... first time actually seeing/hearing the real devices live. Will have to look up Five G yikes

I recommend it! Also, yes, they do support M processors wink

Five G is a cool vintage synth store in harajuku, it's legendary!

Rootnode (check out his profile on weeklybeats!) just told me he took me there once XD I didn't know the name: it was pretty cool! Also good to know I cannot afford any of it big_smile haha but they had a lot of OG MS-20s, I kinda want to pick one up x_X

Pretty kickin' ass acid here... I'm still running the "mark 1" version of Phoscyon. At first glance, didn't thought there was a difference, though I'd take your word for it.

I'm very happy with my silver Behringer TD3. Guess you'll love it smile

Did anyone remember this one, back in '98?

The difference with Phoscyon 2 is... you can finally see the interface XD it's so small on a modern screen.
Other than that, you have a more complete effect section (the drive section is less weird, too), a more advanced sequencer and "scenes" so you can create a 303 sound and save it as a preset, save the sequences are preset, and save presets globally.

I have a TD3-MO which is ok...but I don't like they kept the OG restriction of not being able to program it while it runs T_T

I have an MB-33, Avalon Bassline, TD-3, TD-03... I am not sure the volca (nu)bass count wink

Recently I use the MB-33 because it's super small and convenient

As for the gif you posted, I have heard of this and seen the box art, too... I think in an episode of Bad Gear ^^

Thanks for listening!
