Slowing Implosion

By xavoneir on June 17, 2018 10:42 pm

"The structure that you are enveloped in begins to implode. All stare up at the sheer magnitude of its destruction, the crashing waves rocking the vessels they stand on being reduced to almost nothing in its presence. Cracks begin to form everywhere along the smooth dome of the structure, and the massive metal machines that are stationed towards the top of the dome creak and spark as they collapse and crumble themselves. Time seems to slow down as the shattered dome crashes down into the wild waters beneath it, and subsequently into your submersible and the vagabonds’ vessel. Seconds become minutes, and then hours, and then days as you see the truly gargantuan panels of the superstructure impact with the deep blue waves and the metal of the submersible, feeling every fiber of your being flinch for days on end as the dome collides with your head and the base of your neck. You feel yourself being crushed between the dome and the submersible in excruciatingly full pain as time spreads itself thinner and thinner, your death taking months to reach the nanosecond when your brain would have normally shut down. Your body has been utterly wrecked beyond repair, but your mind remains as the sole witness of an infinitely excruciating death."

This week's beat has a bit of an intentional juxtaposition in it. The music gets increasingly fast and busy as the main character's mind panics and time slows further, forcing the protagonist to experience the pain of dying to a much more extreme and long-term degree. Then, towards the end, the song altogether freezes and slows down, representing the character's mind accepting this pain and slowing to a stop to allow the necessary brain power to process it.

And so we reach the end of another chapter... this song illustrates the mentioned phenomena with a fascinating progression and flowing, morbid, compressed soundscape.

Glad to see you keeping up. Almost halfway!!
