Shamisen Delay

By wingedsouls on January 17, 2016 12:31 pm

Experimentation with different percussive sounds on Tsugaru Shamisen using the bachi (plectrum), with reverb and delay effects.

I'm tempted to make a part 2 including non-muted strings later on.

I havnt done any shami-fx yet. Are you doing pick scrapes?
You're getting some really cool artifacts/partials that sound like bells ringing about halfway through!

Nice track, listened it a few times. Gives off a real cold vibe. Reminds me a lot of the track Spinal Clock by Buckethead.

Supernice soundworld. My pulse changed from 89 to 45 bpm.
Took only 4 deep breathings/ min.

creepy!

I'm doing pick scrapes, hitting different parts of the body (I think it was hitting the skin without hitting the string, then the bottom of the instrument with the back of the bachi and then the hard fabric covered guard thing on top also with the back of the bachi at the start) with different parts of the bachi and at the end, rubbing around the skin with the flat bit of the bachi (was inspired by the snare drum rubbing thing with brushes in jazz)
