Chillin' on the Sundays of Life

By ViridianLoom on August 23, 2020 8:48 pm

Went for something simple this week. Was kind of feeling like making another synthwave song and I came up with this laid back head boppin' loop but I've been pretty busy so I didn't get a chance to elaborate on it much, so I approached it like a chill jam session. I had a pretty productive session with my band mates this weekend so there was a bunch of cool ideas that surfaced there, so I feel like I was pretty creative this week even if this song doesn't necessarily reflect that. I could see myself revisiting this track in the future to flesh it out more, make it more interesting, add more texture, etc.

So, this past week I downloaded that letterboxd app because I used to be really into watching tons of movies when I was a teenager but that mostly fell on the wayside while I started marathoning television series and playing more video games, so I've been wanted to get back into watching movies more frequently. So I think nearly every day this week I've watched something new (to me).  So the list was as follows

Robocop (How have I not seen this before? it fucking rocked)
Triangle (The plot takes an interesting twist which makes it a unique premise)
Grave of the Fireflies (Probably the most depressing movie I've seen)
Possum (I can appreciate a slow burn of a movie heavy on subtext but frankly I didn't like this one and thought it was wasted potential)
Upgrade (Pleasantly surprised at how good this movie was, the actor playing the lead role was impressive)
The Old Guard (This movie was awful and it really rubs me the wrong way that it has a 81% of rotten tomatoes. If you want a more interesting story about immortal characters then try playing Lost Odyssey or something.)

But that's just like, my opinion. If you use the app, you can find me at https://letterboxd.com/mintchip55/

Really like the way the track closes. You add a couple of subtle elements with the guitar that give the track another burst of life. The original Robocop is so fantastic. I haven't seen it in a while, but I like to think it would still hold up.

That guitar at the 2 minute mark is killer. It's the fridge on the highway of cool.

I hear you about Grave of the Fireflies. Fantastic movie, and very heart-wrenching.
Solid work on this track, it's very groovy and chill! The guitar parts that kick in near the 2:00 mark is especially cool.

It's indeed a chill synthwave track, nice bass and strings layers. And then you take it to another dimension with subtle guitar lines.

Dreamy track. I really like how you titled the track.

Robocop and Grave of the Fireflies are two timeless masterpieces but in very different ways! I've been wanting to watch Upgrade but my girlfriend always puts the kibosh on it, I'll have to watch it without her soon.

Really nice track, that synth bass with those dreamy guitars during the last 45 seconds is not a combination I hear too often but it really works. Very 80s smile

Robocop doing the robot to this would be cool.
