This one took a hard turn midway through and really went somewhere I wasn't expecting. First track of the year that made sense to throw some guitars on. Not my normal wheelhouse but it was real fun to make and I'm pretty happy with the results.

So crunchy, then so crushed. Love the sounds at work. Hits me right in the NIN at points.

How did you get that crunch?

Thanks! Yeah, I was getting the NIN vibes after I finished it up too. I think it's coming from the bass? Not sure. This track took on a mind of it's own at some point and I just went with it.

"Crunchyness on the bass is from distortion and turning up or down the overtones on the 0-Coast for different sections for round or crunchy bass."

No way. That's awesome. So the overtones AND the distortion are from the 0Coast? Never thought to use it like that.

0-Coast gets distortion from OT but the overtones were just added/controlled directly on the 0-Coast. I set the 'multiply' knob to add the overtones I want and then I'm moving the balance knob around during the performance for different sections where I want the bass more crunchy or more round.

BUT, you could MIDI control the overtones right from the OT which could be cool. Last couple weeks have been OT & Make Noise 'easel' projects and it's worth exploring what I can do with MIDI between the two. For things I need to do performance-wise live on OT I tend to confuse myself if I need to switch between MIDI and 'regular' mode so I end up just doing things more directly. But, I can definitely see it simplifying some situations where I need to change things on multiple instruments at the same time. Would just take some practice.

I think form in this one works really well, how you are kind of weaving things in and out. Especially towards the end, the first listen I didn’t know how long it was and it kept me anticipating. For some reason it reminds me of the anti-piracy warning commercial thing they used to show in the beginning of movies “you wouldn’t steal a car…”. Very cool track.

The combination of electronics and guitar is dope in here.

Nice sounds, this is cool. Agree, cool to hear the mix of guitar and synths. Tasty crunch. The Make Noise gear is awesome.

Always cool when some guitar is added and I like the NIN vibes.  Some lovely broodiness going on.  Nice one!

The guitars feel huuuge and really open up the track, such a cool contrast with the synths (which also rock)

"There's also a gated reverb that is set to act more like an additional instrument than a reverb that kind of smears and pumps the crunch around in the background."
yes! i love this kind of thing! very cool effect. nicely done

This blends really well together, the guitar/bass with the electronic elements, very cohesive song. love the big overdriven sound, gorgeous. enjoyed this!

Guitars + minimalistic synth + tight kick = very interesting mix. That stage at 1:26 takes me back to 80s indus music. Dark wave/goth/indus maybe. Definitely a black and white ghetto downtown vibe.

The guitar meshes with the crunchy synth really well.  Just hits you with nasty distorted goodness in multiple ways.

hell YES guitars

nice industrial kinda grind

i want to be cool and new wave dancin' to this but this is more like me in reality dancin' to this

Thanks all! It was a fun one to put together and I'm glad you all had fun with it too. Was good to have an excuse to get the guitar back in hand. I've been neglecting it lately and it was a nice reminder to get back on that practice schedule smile
