Weekly Corn

*See you all in 2020*

And here we are! Literally submitted with 5 seconds to spare (and the lyrics confirm and inspired this in true First of October fashion!)

SO. Happy. I decided to make this with 1 hour to go. I spent the last few days going through projects I started in 2019 and never finished thinking cool, I'll make one of those epic tunes a full song for my first week... I feel this works so much better. Inspired by Korn (obviously) and songs like Twist to serve as an "intro" to this round of WeeklyBeats for me. It was the perfect chance to jump out of that comfort zone and record some vocals (again, inspired by Rob Scallon and Andrew Huang's "First of October" project) the vocals were done in 1 take and I literally had 2 minutes left on the clock lol!

This track was a great excuse to use my new 7-string and bass guitar, not to mention the fact I finally bought an audio interface and an XLR microphone to enable me to get better at vocals this round of WeeklyBeats! I remember someone commenting on my first beat of 2018 which was also Korn inspired and they mentioned it would fit some Davis style vocals, well, that came to my mind with 3 mins on the clock so enjoy. *EDIT* it was Coauctor, thanks for planting the ripple effect 2 years ago brother smile

There was zero time to master this thing so enjoy the madness. Glad to be back, nervous about seeing the year through as we are expecting baby #3 in May (seriously, all my kids seem to be born during WeeklyBeats) but I plan to try! I also had some crazy last minute exposure at the end of 2019 thanks to the cult classic Aussie comedy show "Fat Pizza" making a comeback and they wound up using 20+ of my tunes and let me release an album under their name and likeness, check it on your platform of choice! smile https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/tweaklab/big-and-cheesy-music-from-fat-pizza-3 the dudes behind the show gave me such a confidence boost and sound keen to hear new material this year in case the show is renewed so, what better excuse to make random styles of music than WeeklyBeats 2020!

Lyrics:

BEAT!!!

I... need... to...
Submit my weekly...
Beat... right... now...
I've only got two minutes left!

(Fun fact, I finished that vocal, gave it one proof listen for any peaks/distortion, boosted it by a few dB then threw some reverb on it, dialed it back without even listening to it, copy and pasted the power chord drop from 0:19 to come in after the verse (which was initially going to have some eery spooky Korn style leads too) exported from Reason with less than 2 mins left (probably 90 secs), frantically opened SoundForge to convert to MP3, saved that to a very messy desktop, frantically searched for the file via the WeeklyBeats upload window and kept mis-typing, thought of the name during all of this, submitted, then came back to edit like 5 times lol)

okayyyyy lets get some djent going 2020, nice work dude

Hah so good and heavy!! \m/ \m/

I thought it was a joke and you waited to the last minute intentionally, anyway being not a joke this joke is even funnier smile
Thanks for bringing me to my teenage years and my obsession with Korn smile
By the way, how did you edit your description? I tried to edit mine, but didn't found such option

Cheers! I'm very keen to make more in this style, my original beat was heavily inspired by Amon Amarth but I was having too much fun working on it so that might be Week 2 wink

THESE LYRICS!  I'm laughing so hard right now, this is incredible.  I love you, Tweaklab smile

Digging that distortion.  Also congrats on making it in just under the wire.  You like to live dangerously.  smile
