Therapy Time (Session 1)
By Tweaklab on April 24, 2022 11:59 pm
I started this tune in 2020, I've promised OrangeDrink "it's coming" since then... the song was initially inspired by my toxic, narcissistic, gaslighting family members for their BS in 2020... whether it be insulting me, my wife (How much did that cost?), my children, to our face or behind our back (That wasn't my fault), my upbringing (Bow down to the cross) well that has continued into 2022 so here we are. The song was written from the angle of, it's can sometimes be the people who would suggest "maybe he should try therapy" are the very reason you need it in the first place? And by cutting them out of your life, you are removing the need for therapy? That's my experience. There was going to be a solo, ran out of time. My fingers and wrist HURRRRRRT from shredding after so many chilled beats. But like most of my punk songs that start on weeklybeats, I really consider this a "demo" of what will one day be the final track.
Excuse my vocals, I really struggled to find pitch in a few places (I actually recorded vocals first and then did music second which was kind of cool... the swing section during the chorus is all thanks to that! The original riff I recorded didn't work with the vocals, so I had to re-record with 35 mins to go until submission time!!)
Session 2 is coming next week...
Lyrics:
Therapy time!
How much did that cost?
Therapy time!
Bow down to the cross!
Therapy time!
That wasn't my fault!
Therapy time!
I'M DONE WITH THIS CULT!
I don't need no therapy - my brain is not the enemy!
My 2-for-1 reality doesn't need your social ANARCHY!
You've called the shots for so long - it's time for you to face some!
Saw through your lies and every disguise why won't you realize that I don't -
Need therapy - or your toxicty! I've had an epiphany, not sure you'll agree -
YOU'RE THE ONE WHO NEEDS
Some therapy, or at least some dignity, then you can finally see your words have no hold on me!
Therapy time!
*EDIT* I'm sorry. I didn't realize how out of time my vocals were from half way through the chorus, I'll be making this an official release in the future
