Mother's Day

By Tweaklab on May 10, 2026 10:09 pm

Throwing it back to the late 90s with some MOBY inspired keys and beats.

I can hear quite a bit the MOBY inspiration with light pianos, pads and the "wha!" sample.

Well done.

Hope you Mom is doing great! Mine (and the girlfriend) are not too bad.

Amazing smile the initial idea to dedicate the WeeklyBeat to Mother's Day was more inspired by my wife, an amazing mother to our 3 daughters.

Now for the other aspect - there's honestly a bit of a deeper meaning I never got around to writing up in my description.

Firstly - please don't feel bad for what I'm about to say, but my mum actually passed away at the end of 2023.
We had a difficult relationship as did my siblings, she was a bit of a text book narcissist and caused alot of trouble.

But.

I wanted to continue my journey towards the light and less in darkness, I've been angry, I've been sad, dissapointed... I wanted to write a song that just captured when times were good, however spread out they may have been. This tune is kind of like a highlight reel of the times she laughed, we made each other laugh, and I remember when I got my license I would always have MOBY "Play" and "18" in the car and she enjoyed it more than most of my other musical tastes.

I went out to visit her a couple of months ago and wished her to be at peace, that life was too short to be focussed on the past or to be angry etc. It is what it is. Life is moving forward, I'm making the most of my time for my own children now etc. I feel... healed. smile
