90s big beat/electronica as a throwback to Fatboy Slim and The Chemical Brothers.
This tune was born when my older brother (who lives in another state, and frankly is the person responsible for 80% of my musical tastes) sent me some guitar clips over messenger a few nights ago, I "sampled" the main riff from one of them and corrected the timing a little for the sake of using it as a loop. I only use stock Reason 10 sounds and Norman Cook "Skip To My Loops" which was my first ever Reason Refill back in 2004. It's probably on the short side for the "journey" I tried to call back to the many style changes you'd hear in some of these tunes a couple of decades ago, ending on a 4/4 beat etc after going through a few different breakbeat sections and a breakdown full of filters on the main loop. Oh and the reverse section, super Chemical Brothers.
The mix is probably quite muddy and stuff is being drowned out, but today was my eldest daughter's 7th birthday (which is crazy, I remember talking about her arriving soon at the end of WeeklyBeats 2012, now she's writing music with me for WeeklyBeats 2020 and my third daughter is due in May!), my brother's name is Paul, and mine is Lynden. Hence the title!
I feel I was also due for a change of style after 5 weeks of punk/metal. No vocals on this tune, but that was kind of on purpose due to the genre I'm honouring.
I threw down some electric guitar parts like the main lead for the climax and some trem picked guitars during the first section.
