At the end of WB 2016 I said I didn't think I could do it again, but when I heard WB 2018 was a thing I felt a spark of inspiration and drive to create that I haven't felt throughout 2017 so here I am!

Back with a bag of new tricks including an 8-String guitar and Reason now having VST / Plug-In support it's going to be a fun and experimental year!

This tune kicks off with a very KoRn riff I came up with a week ago and then leads into some more Celldweller / Circle of Dust styled stuff. The overall theme in mind is a CyberPunk futuristic setting after watching both Blade Runners last weekend lol.

I didn't have time to touch up my guitar timing so it's just literally recorded and the best takes chosen etc.

Sneaky little BPM shift at the end too!

I wanted to try and get some vocals down which is going to be a big focus for me this time around, I got a few little growls and that was it for Week 1 though lol total production time of about 3 hours! I personally love the riff that kicks in with the octave slide, something that was inspired by Rip & Tear from DOOM by Mick Gordon.

Ready, and just the right amount of rough.

Move over Mick Gordon!  That 8 string sounds like a beast.  Love that little breakdown of silence and the little "electronic cricket".  Welcome back!

Eyyy!!! Good to see you back man, hope you had a great 2017! Yeah the guitar really goes alright for $250 AUD lol

It's crazy how low 8 allows you to go, that entire track is played on the 7th 6th and 5th strings only lol I currently have it tuned to A standard from the 7th to 1st string (KoRn tuning) and then the 8th is a low E.

Buddy!!!!  That is one scary looking guitar!  I have a baritone guitar, but just the idea of E I G H T strings is crazy.  Can you do barre chords without cutting your finger off? smile

Haha it honestly took about 3 weeks for my fingers to officially stretch... tongue

After that, I went back to try one of my 6 strings and it honestly felt like a Guitar Hero controller lol!

There are a couple of power chords in the tune, it's tricky, but doable smile

Hell ya! I look forward to hearing more of the 8-string!

ROTFL I can envision that so well, that's why it is extra hilarious

Nice riff at the start and unexpected end! Oh, it would be great to have Korn-esque vocals in this one I think.

Yeh! This one feels so good. Looking forward to week 2, etc.

Powerful sound and some great DOOM moments in here

Once the d'n'b beat hits, it's another whole story smile

Glad to see a familiar face back again smile
