mist descend

definitely an experiment here. this is essentially an edited jam, so it runs a touch long overall, and the mixing/polish isn't up to par because I'm trying new techniques and sounds/etc. will probably be trying out some experiments with this setup and the techno basis in general for a while, if not the entire quarter (if it goes well!)

suggestions/critiques are encouraged :]

Sounds good - gentle progression but builds nicely. Mix is decent, no problems but would the delicate sounds get drowned out on a big system as the kick is strong???

Really like the track though - looking forward to hearing more.

I love that your drums have this thin layer of grit. In the department of mixing, Id suggest mess around with the reverb of everything. The pad sometimes seems too far away and the drums too close. Keep the dark vibes up!

Very driving and dig the sinister yet subtle eeriness of the textures!

Great minimal track. Like the dirty beat a lot, love the subtle details in there. For me the synths could have been a tad bit sparser in the middle part (towards the end it seems to get less dominant again, which I like better, but that is very personal of course), to keep it even more minimal, but overall I really love this. I'll definitely download it and might play it next weekend, when I have to play at a techno party in Brussels. (If I play it, I'll try to make a video and send it to you, might be fun to see the reaction of the crowd to your track)

Totally on board with this.  The length works to its advantage, I think.  Digging the minimal approach, grit/grain on the drums, the distant reverb...it's like I expect to encounter the MCP any second now.

Thanks! The kick is a bit too much, agreed. Need to tamp it down more and keep it under control.

Thanks! Agreed that the reverb needs work; I was trying for the effect you mention, but it's not done with as much quality as I'd have liked.

Exactly what I was going for!

Thanks! Glad it brought out some imagery smile

Oh, that's awesome that you'd even consider playing it as part of a set, let me know if you do! Agreed on the synths, I think the idea of what I was going for comes across but my execution of the idea could've used some work. Damned time constraints. smile May do another mix of this track in a few weeks.

I really like this song man. the overall vibes of this track is really dark and ominous and I love it. The only thing I would suggest is to mess with the kick a bit. There's a bit too much pop in it. maybe lower it and the overall volume as well, by about 2 db or so. Hope this helps.
