sola

Earlier this week I pulled out a little circuit that I built last year called the 'sola sounder', loosely based on a circuit incorporating an external solar panel that the sound artist, Miki Yui uses for some of her studio and live work. In essence, it's a 40106 IC hooked up with three feedback circuits. A solar panel provides the voltage input, the circuit feeds back internally and that's basically it. I replaced the 47K resistors in the original schematic for pots so that I can fine tune the response.
The output from the sola sounder is the combined signals of the three feedback circuits (respectively tuned with the pots) and in this track I'm sending this into a Eurorack patch to provide a modulation source for a couple of oscillators. A resonant filter is also being controlled by the sola signal. The 4MS DLD also features strongly in this, with long iterations being momentarily suspended and reversed from remote triggers.
