New Pumice Raft

By Tristan Louth-Robins on January 21, 2022 11:18 pm

This patch began with an exploration of my much-neglected Toppobrillo Triple Wave Folder, a module I picked up second hand last year.

As far as I can tell, it's a pretty obscure unit and - to be absolutely honest - I haven't spent the time understanding its particulars. But above everything else, it's got loads of parameter control and can do beautiful things to a signal - both discrete and aggressively.

There's a lot more going on with the overall patch here, but the key feature is the Wave Folder, where one triangle wave is fed directly into it with degrees of bias across the three folds. Another triangle wave (the CV melody) is split between the mixer and also as a second input for the Wave Folder, which creates some interesting modulations. A lot of CV control is coming from the delightful Ochd LFO, which is driving two CV parameters on the Wave Folder: the first bias, and the overall bias - which *I think* results in the wave distortion that occurs at about the 30 second mark.

I need to read the manual! Mabye this week's modular theory cram.

A lovely bit of added crunch to the warm tones.

I've always been intrigues by the TWF and this has just made me want it more. Sounds great!

Thanks! Yes, it's a strange old module, that one. So many possibilities. I'll hopefully dive into it more in the coming weeks.
