WB 7 - Polygons (Dirtywave M8)

By Tristan Baldi on February 18, 2024 4:43 pm

I stumbled upon some really cool jungle tracks from DUSQK (check out his album Heaven.exe on Youtube it's gorgeous) and realized I did like this kind of music. Never been much of a Dnb or jungle fan, but it made me question this, as the choice of sounds and the composing sounded neat.

So I decided to have a go for this week's submission. Not as simple as I thought to pick the right samples and to manage to stay in key. Especially because - my mistake -, for the first pad I used the Jupiter from Arturia and tweaked a preset, but realized way too late that it was pretty out of tune. So I tried again and again to get some lead sounds with the hypersynth or FM and couldn't quite fit the key.

I used a lot of old 90's CD samples, some FM here and there for FX and the first low bass. I had a blast making it.

I hope you'll like it!

Youtube video:

I'm such a sucker for this kind of ambient dnb. The breaks at around 1:30 are so sick. Nice work! Keep it up!

This was awesome! heart

This dude doesn’t even know if he likes dnb, makes a better dnb track than I ever have. Some people, hahahaha.

The whole thing is a joy. So weird and wobbly, the gated sounds, just so much. This is my happy place. rankin is right about that added shuffle too, it’s so good.

Really enjoyed this, super clean! Perfect pads, samples, breaks, synth design- You're a dnb natural!

Thank you, I did learn it is more DnB than jungle indeed!

Thank you! You know it's often like that: the first time you try a style of music it seems ok to do, you have a fresh ear and a lot of will to make a good try. Usually the issues start when you actually try to make more tracks wink
Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate!

Very polished classic sound.

Made me bounce on the chair. I am a sucker for this kind of DnB music. So relaxing.

Love the airy spacey lead! The whole track flows really well!

So Clean and nice! Loved it heart

Holy smokes!!! So cool! I’m fairly new on here and this is my first time hearing your stuff so far and SHEESH. Love it! Really appreciate the video too big_smile

I’m a big fan of this late 90’s DnB/Jungle sound.  You executed this very well for a first attempt at the style.  The bass and pads are gorgeous and some nice vocal chops.

Thank you, I appreciate! I expect the second attempt to be disappointing haha! But I'd like to work on a 4-5 tracks DnB EP, I'll have to get to work!
