Mono Is The New Pink

By Trash80 on January 25, 2014 5:40 am

This was made entirely on a single recording of the Elektron Analog Four in poly mode. Only some post limiting and eq was applied. I wanted to finally try making a song using the built in sequencer. It was a bit of a pain actually... I don't really like the usability- swapping between editing patterns & editing the chain sequences without accidentally messing up song order. And at times just the flow itself was tedious. Though I do love you can sequence instrument changes- allowed getting some percussion sequencing done. Also assigned a few of the Performance knobs to tweak the filters realtime was nice, shame you can't automate them.

it sounds like tron wink j/k.. nice work.

Beautiful!

dude you exemplify y the a4 is sooooo sweet. Chainging seqs should be more similar to the MD, but i understand the workflow of it, and the reasoning. It is a giant pain in the ass to constantly clear the chain though....

nice work dude. heart

very nice with the sequencing.  now all you need is to dub this over a VHS taping of a show describing "the information superhighway"

Sick man!

This song is the new jam

Really lovely progression. BRB going to watch vids of Analog Fours.

damn this is fantastic

like this a lot. big phat chord progressions.

entrancing

Very nice. Doesn't sound like you were having a hard time making it smile

Also, dat 80s snare!

Lovely! Reminds me of the Soviet-era Latvian group, Zodiac.  Only this is much better produced. wink

This is really beautiful. Had the WB playlist going in the background to house cleaning and heard it, had to stop to find out who it was! Really, really nice work.

Very nice. Love the lush sounds!

Oh wow.  Beautiful chordal changes mate.  This is amazing.  That snare is so deep too.

I've listened to this song too many times now to count. I think I need an analog synth. That A4 with the reverb is just so tasty.
