Novation released their special edition of the Bass Station 2 "AFX Station" recently.  There's honestly nothing too special about it unless you're a major Aphex Twin collector or haven't pulled the trigger on a BS2.  The color scheme is a bit more minimal and it has the logo. Woop.  Of course I already own the awesome Bass Station 2 hence my enthusiasm. I'm also more fond of the blue color scheme on the original.  Thankfully Novation also released the new patches for all BS2 owners.  So my lazy arse finally got around to trying out some of the new patches Saturday morning.  There's a lot of cool new inspiring patches that make use of the new features. Basically the Aphex part turns the BS2 sorta into a drum machine.
Some of you may remember a fellow WBer alumnus, 'Perplex On' from 2014.  Well he has been making a name for himself making all sorts of cool tracks with awesome visuals and has been known to dabble in the BS2.  I highly recommend you youtube his work.  Turns out he is one of the artists who has his patches featured in the new update that is pre-loaded on the AFX station. The 6min patch preview video is pretty insane.
Soooo long story short I used one of his cool patches to make this week's track.  I started this while it was raining cats and mogs yesterday.  All I could think about was "damn I'd like to nap some more in this peaceful rain".  So when I stumbled on this patch the simple chord progression quickly came to me and Bob's someone's Uncle.  The beat that I made was pretty bland until I threw one of those ableton effects on it giving it a sort of faux breakbeat feel.  I apologize my coffee has not kicked in yet so I'm one giant run on sentence today.  Lastly this was the least amount of tracks I used.  Kick, Snares, Hats and Novation PerplexStation.  Thank you for reading this far you've earned your nap and/or beer.

That is a really cool sound on that patch.  It really conveys a sense of motion, especially rising and falling.

That drum pattern when it came in was very unexpected but nice. I like the feel, more ambience?

The percussion in this is sick. The whole track really springs to life when they come in. It's so wonderfully atmospheric.

Yeah this sounds are pretty cool, I really dig the portamento effect on this chords, especially when your play a really high chord and it slides up it it really fast. And the beat is super slick sounding.

I really like the tasty chord bends and the robotic beat in here. It is because, I am one of the major Aphex Twin collectors and 90ies WARP addict.

Synth sounds awesome on this, beats turned out quite well and fit with the gnarly synth.  I’ve been looking for a used bass station for awhile, the odd time they pop up.  Afx version sounds cool in theory, but yes kind of disappointing that all it is compared to the regular one is a new colour scheme.  I totally remember Perplex On, he had some great music, very cool that some of his patches are included with the update.

definitely has that aphex influence in it. good job!

Thanks everyone I appreciate your nice comments and listening smile
I just stumbled upon this free VST synth via Bedroom Producers Blog and totally thought some of you might want to give it a try.
It's regularly $99 but if you use the coupon code, APGONE it's ZEROH!  aka 0 zilch nada...
I haven't even installed it yet but I figured I'd pass it along before the coupon expires.
Check it out here (hope i get the link paste correct)

Thanks again! smile

I'd say I earned a beer, but I need to un-earn all the beers and junk food I've downed over the past few months.
Cool how this track feels so big and has a great deal of movement, but there are only a few sounds in total. Nice work.

Thanks for the Kilohearts news. I just snagged the synth.

Very cool percussion!

The synth is awesome. It's huge, a living organism that moves and breathes. The percussion is just right, between its staccatto attack and limited frequencies, it fits perfectly.
