Injustice We Trust

I'm gonna get a bit political for once because well the shit's hit the fan in 2020.
It's very upsetting to see what is going on in the United States.  The buffoon of a President we have is just making everything worse.  I've been watching 'The Handmaid's Tale' lately and although it's not as bad as the show, you feel some of those clips coming to life in what we're witnessing today.  The orange moron thinks he's on a reality tv show still.  The police brutality needs to end but unfortunately I know with the current administration in place nothing will change.  So this week's track is hugely inspired by what is going on.  The first drone set the scene and then the Piano parts were more atonal than I normally go for.

But in the good news department my family got me a super duper early Birthday present by allowing me to invest in the biggest epic sample library I've ever owned.  Spitfire Audio's Albion One.  Last week I was trying to work on two projects.  One being the usual Weeklybeats track and the other an unsuccessful attempt at scoring an action sequence from Westworld's Season 3.  You guessed it, Spitfire Audio and HBO are hosting the competition.  The winner gets like $20K worth of sample liibraries LOLOLOL.  No way in hell I come close to winning but the practice is good because I've never tried to score to picture.  Well not an action sequence of this magnitude. But so far my version is sounding like Daft Punk Tronning it out.  The deadline is Wednesday so we'll see if my procrastination superpower comes to life in time.  Spitfire had Albion One discounted 60% so it was hard to pass up.  My dream of making music in any sort of media is a teensy bit closer because now I can step away from my usual ambient pianoludes and try and sound a bit more epic_trailerish.  Thanks for reading this long winded description, I will catch up on y'all's tracks this week!
PS Big thankyous to my parents for always believing and supporting me.  This dream would have been dead long ago if not for them.  Time to make the most of it!

Dude, thats so awesome that you're entering that contest, the music you make is perfect for film.  I really hope you win.  This weeks track is pretty sweet man, very ominous.  Very fitting for the current environment.  I dont know about where you're at, but here in Chicago it feels like the worlds about to end.

Might consider brightening up the piano a bit so it cuts through better in a trailer mix. Otherwise flawless execution.

Also, ACAB! Rest in power George Floyd, rest in power Breonna Taylor.

Dig the feel of this track.  Nice one!

This is very West World. The tension builds while suspending its progress gradually a it builds to a climax, rather than a quick rise into it. Well done.

I feel you on the frustration around the circumstances in which we live. Progress doesn't always come as quickly as we would like. And it can often be drowned out by the acts of the outliers or the people who are in opposition to progress. Luckily, chord progressions can progress a lot faster than society and our ways of thinking.

The tension here fits the unrest of our times and also, I imagine, an action scene in Westworld.  Good luck and good on your family for supporting you and your dreams.  And I'm right there with you on the state of current affairs.  What's going on in America right now is horrifying and honestly has been for quite some time.  I truly hope the majority of us are decent and can work together to bring about much needed massive societal change.

Very tense. Yea, 2020 is a bit of a shitshow, 2018 was bad as well. This song is good though Very ominous piano backed by even more ominous whatever it is in the background.

you are perfect for film scoring!  you could win!

Great title and I can feel what you are getting across in the music.  Sadly things aren't getting any better as the week goes on, someone can't pass up a photo shoot.  Goodluck on the contest, I could totally see your music fitting with Westworld also can't wait to hear what you will do with your new birthday present.

Thanks everyone!  Yeah I need to get better with listening to the finished mix at a quieter volume because I definitely hear it's a bit washed out with the Piano.  I noticed it too after posting to IG and how muffled it sounded.. That's the downside to rushing a track in the final 2 days because my ears don't get that proper in between rest to go "ooooh yeah".
Also sorry for the confusion.  This week's track isn't what I submitted to the Westworld scoring contest.  I was hoping to finish it for this week but had to put it on hold.  In place was this atonal upset with my govt thing.  Definitely going to be spending tons of time getting to know Albion One..  It's got so many inspiring cinematic patches I'm a bit overwhelmed atm.  It will def be in pretty much every new track from here on out (i hope).
The good news is that I managed to squeak out a submission for the contest on Wednesday with about 25mins to spare.  I finished it with about an hour to go but then of course with exporting and getting YouTube to "100%" process it I was fearing I'd miss it by seconds.  Overall I'm excited to let you guys hear it (it will be uploaded this week) and see what I came up with.  It's def not as EPIC as I wanted it to sound but the process of learning how to score to an action scene was awesome.  I say awesome now but up until finishing the track I was really hating it and myself.  Hopefully their next contest will be for a drama or  mystery lol.  Thanks for listening! smile

Oh yeah I'm down in Miami.  About 30mins from Overtown where the riots happened years ago but thankfully more inland.  We did have our first mandatory curfews with those creepy Emergency Alert messages.  We are living in some strange times...

I wasn't confused, I caught that this isn't that (probably wouldn't fit Westworld all that well to be honest).

Wow, dark and foreboding sounds. Heavy totalitarian labored drums and dystopian vibe. Strong ending!  100% with you on the political front. It's like living in a bad movie.  November can't come soon enough.

This sounds like an intense filmscore soundtrack. Evil everywhere. We have to be aware.

& p.s. happy birhtday!

I hear you! With you on the political front as well. Keep making good tunes. This one captures that mood fore sure. I went and marched a couple weeks ago, which was inspiring and a good experience, but now I'm paranoid about the virus. Geez.
