Infinitely gentle, infinitely suffering thing

By Tone Matrix on December 16, 2018 9:56 pm

This week I couldn't find much inspiration from my usual selection of pads to get something started so I decided to do a small piano thing.  I wasn't really looking forward to spending time on composing or even producing heavily.  So after a few hours of noodling on my Roland RD-700GX I came up with this in one take.  I probably could have mixed/produced this a bit more but I wanted to stay away from adding extra instruments.  The only thing I decided to add to the track was a very low phone recording of a friend's washing machine.  A bit of phasing and filtering on the washer loop just to break up the silence in between the chords.  Hopefully the last two weeks will be a bit more of a full sounding track but egh here's a solo piano thang.  Thanks for listening and I need to catch up on errrbodies tracks!

Thanks for this. Really digging piano things recently. smile

Really gorgeous piece. It's already on my phone for permanent listening (there's a spot in the park where I usually walk alone... and this would be perfect).

The washing mashing loop sounds like the unwanted friction mechanism of some old reel to reel recorders, so it gives a more Varese Sarabande/Deutsche Gramophon classic quality to the recording.

Absolutely fantastic.

Very enjoyable, thanks for this great piece of music, great idea of adding the washing machine loop

Nicely structured. Much appreciated.

This is really beautiful.  Sometimes a solo piano (and a bit of washing machine) is all you need.

this is so beautiful - i have so enjoyed your tracks this year - just wonderful work downloaded & fav'd

You really know how to summon magic from those keys, delightful compo!

Nicely played and beautiful on its own. Just dark and brooding enough under the chords that a small tap pushes this into Trent Reznor territory. Btw, my washing machine is running in the background as I listen, so I am getting the NWSPR washing machine remix edition of your track smile
