Collective Trauma

Tried out the "Stray Cats" Ableton pack that has a bunch of warped audio effects included.  One of them basically turns every track into Boards of Canada like schtuff.  I originally had it on the Master track but decided it was a bit too warbly for the String parts so I spread it out.  Also used the free synth Helm for a few pads (the dark low parts) and my usual array of Spitfire Audio Strings and Piano.  Hope errrrbody is doing well.

WHOAAAAAA

I promise you if you told me this was a BoC b-side, I would believe you!   This is so beautiful, and also, shout out to Max For Cats - they make terrific stuff, I can't believe that new pack is free - very cool.  Just downloaded it // Color was on my to-do list for a long time as a tapehead, and I'm excited it is free. Thanks for the heads up.

I love the arpeggio providing more of the rhythm than the drums, and then at 2:30 when the swells take over the track, it's unbelievably sad + pretty, the BoC formula, in my opinion.

The detune bell lead is terrific.

DUDE you are so cinematic with your work RELAX // DJ Shadow and Boards of Canada called and they want you to CALM DOWN

and the track title really got me sad

You used drum sounds again! These tracks are for soundtracks. Such good. The synth rolling in and out with the descending pattern gives it a dystopian feel. Nice track, yet again!

Awesome man, love the new sounds.  Big fan of that bass riff with delay that goes on/evolves throughout this, very cool.  Awesome ending too, so emotional.

Digging the new sound! The bass-like arps are super punchy while the warble effect in the pads warms everything up and makes a big sound field. Provides a lot of tension when combined and the drama builds throughout the the first three parts with a nice bright ending. Really well done!  I have a bench like the one in the photo just down the street.  Are we neighbors, or does everyone have a bench with yellow warning tape on it?

yeah yeah yeah yeah, mellow and slow and eerie and feeling evoking, thank you

Feels like a slightly different direction for you, but you pulled it off really well.  There's sort of a sci-fi noir mash-up I'm getting off of this.  Definitely a sense of darkness, but not despair if that makes sense.

Like the pads, will have to check out that synth, drums definitely got a BOC feel, have to agree with Orangedrink if there were some educational film samples on here I would be scratching my head “how have I not heard this BOC track”, great stuff!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments and listening!  If you're interested in that audio effect for Ableton or just how to get some B.o.C like sounds check out this guy's YT channel.  He kickstarted this track for me with his vid.
