You Know, It's Like, Whatever

By Tomatron.Jones on May 24, 2026 11:58 pm

A friend introduced me to the music duo Ekcle, an interesting mix of lo-fi, hyperpop, and glitch. That became the initial inspiration for this one, though then I sort of forked off onto my own thing. I spend a decent amount of time time tinkering with some thick bass sounds and automating an FX chain per note-hit. Struggled a bit trying to arrange it, eventually settled on a decent bassline and added some chiptunes sounding drums, some chords, and lots of little glitchy sounding samples. Glitchy IDM meets chiptunes or something?

* Splice Samples for drums, SFX, some bass sounds
* Ableton Wavetable + Cradle.io
* Transit, Valhalla plugins + Ableton stock plugins
* Gullfoss + Izotope Elements for master

Total time spent: 4.5 hours

This is rad. Love the percussion and the melody is groovy.

The nerd in me likes all the data you provide with the tune. You seem like a very organized person. The drudgey guitar is an excellent relief from the raw power. Like grocery shopping with Iron Man.

Ha, thank you. 'Grocery Shopping with Iron Man' should be a track name.
