Who were they to build a road here

It has been a very eventful week and a bit since the last weeklybeat I submitted. In no particular order:
I recently had my ears cleaned after the doctor told me they were 95% blocked??? (gross I know). Leaving from having them cleaned I could suddenly hear absolutely everything in a whole new clarity. My jacket rustled. I could hear the wind passing my ears again. It was a wonderful experience. I did realise my headphones were not as noise-cancelling as I thought though. I think this has been going on for at least over 6 months (see weeklybeat number 2 from this year), and who knows how much longer than that! Life-changing!!!
I went away to Adelaide with a friend for Unsound festival and spent a lot of time taking photos, and enjoying the art gallery there. There was a particularly great Francis Bacon painting that captivated me and caught me emotionally off guard. I remembered how to be a tourist - that particular mindset where you approach everything with curiousity. I came back from the trip feeling well-rested and reinvigorated. I feel more confident and outgoing, and have noticed people responding differently to me since my return - so many wonderful small interactions that easily would have been missed had I not been this outgoing. The music at Unsound was also excellent. YHWH Nailgun, Lucrecia Dalt, and Leya were particular standouts for me. I would also be amiss not to mention Hania Rani's set. I also noticed that in taking nice photos you collect proof that the world you are living in is actually beautiful. By forcing the lens to capture things that look good, you realise the world looks good.
Otherwise, I am facing a lot of things that I am choosing to take as lessons in patience. Nothing bad is happening, just having to learn to sit with the discomfort of not knowing for a long time whether something is going to work out or not. A good lesson to learn, but uncomfortable.
Otherwise, my parents are in town and staying with me, which means I have had to record this in a slight rush while they are out of the house. I am reading lots. I am running. I am riding my bike. Life is good!
This track again uses DADAAD tuning. I have been listening back to my older tracks from this year and feel like my guitar work has been getting a little bit lazy as I have been rushed, so I made an effort to try and change that on this track.
This particular track was inspired by something very sad (at least to me) that I witnessed this week. I felt I had to get it out into song.
who were they to build a road here
you weren't meant to live like this
I watch you struggle on in fear
you weren't meant to live like this
you fell so close
to your tree
don't blame yourself
blame me
it'll be over soon
underneath the waning moon
what is heaven like for you?
I hope that you will be there soon
you fell so close
to your tree
don't blame yourself
blame me
