Alex's House

By Tom Foolery on February 4, 2020 8:18 am

This week I did two things: watched Uncut Gems, and fixed my Big Muff distortion pedal. I'd never plugged a synth into it, so out of curiousity, I fired up my bass station and ran it through the pedal. It created these immense, harsh, complex tones. Inspired by Daniel Lopatin's score in Uncut Gems, I wanted to make a synth piece that conveyed some sense of emotion. Also inspired by Alessandro Cortini's Buchla Music Easel pieces (one day I might own one...) I was determined to try and make an interesting piece out of a single patch that could be PLAYED! This is the end result.

It is not complex, musically or sound-design, or even process wise, but I believe it reflects things I achieved this week, as well as what I was inspired to create.

huge screech

nice grimy synths here!

Some tasty stuff going on with the frequency beatings. I think you're onto something here.
