Chionablepsia; noun - snow blindness

Thanks for your lovely comments last week. Here is something a bit different, I was having lots of fun playing with synth sounds. Not 100% sold on the mix, there is something about it that annoys me, but I can't quite figure out what...

nice drums dude!

(Actually really like this track. The synth sounds are wicked)

Cheers mate smile

the mix sounds good.. maybe a bit dark, but good.. not all crazy like last weeks.. cool song too..

Thanks Phil, there is something not quite right with it, I checked it on Derris' monitors, but it was missing this whole chunk of frequencies... I was not happy!

I love the part where the synth lead creeps in, almost halfway through. That was totally sick. This made me go look up "snowblind" by black sabbath, totally different sound, but the name is mad eme think of it.

BTW I love how you name your tracks.

Cheers man! I hate, hate, hate coming up with names - so I googled "Interesting words" and the rest, as they say, is Geschichte. That Black Sabbath song is great, that riff...

my ears are always so shot by the time i go to master my wb hehe..

what synths are in this track anyways.. the main chord synth sounds really awesome

the lead too. .might be the same one. not sure

Most the synths are just square waves with fun stuff! Certainly all the main ones are. And they're all mono, which was annoying as shit. It's mostly from Omnisphere (which also has a sick as iPad controller app). There's a rhodes in there somewhere too! The hardest thing about mastering for WB is that you've been listening to the damn track all week, I'm always sick of listening to it by that point

hehe.. well. i usually dont even start my track until friday night.. and i have to stay up until the early morning to finish the track before sleeping.. sometimes i can got to sleep early enough that i can master when i wake up. but usually not.

that's not to say i dont work on music throughout the week.. but i have this problem where I have to write a whole song in one sitting in order to maintain my attention span.. so I guess if I was able to finish a song mid-week. i could make a rad mix and master by sunday. but it never happens that way cause I cant do the long haul during the work week.

as for your comment about the rhodes. i should really sample my rhodes hehe. i own a really nice rhodes that is as old as I am. but i hardly ever play it haha

I know how you feel, a single sitting is always better - you really do lose interest in a song unless you get most of it done straight away. I'm trying to work early though, so I've got 90% of this coming week's track done so I can actually concentrate on getting it sounding good by next week. The working week really is detrimental to music though, how are you supposed to work on music after 10 hours at work!? I'm super envious of your Rhodes, I love that Rhodes sound, I overuse it really...

Those drums are perfecto!  Ending is fantastic.  Excellent work!

Cheers roboctopus!

reminds me of the 80s when I was a wee lad

Great work dude and dat ending!

Cool track... great drums.  I like those Gameboy-like sounds that pop-up towards the end.  Rhodes piano and organ are chill.  The piano more evident at the end. Fun stuff!

good melody and great drums work! cool! smile

such great fun!

Thanks you George, DrumurBoy, Alex & OUA!

NWSPR, cheers, this whole track was actually faux-chip at one stage til I decided that this was better. But dude, where is your track from this week?! You haven't missed a week yet, until now sad

Choice drums and thick as chords!

nice one

Cheers fellas

The best music find my self listning too, often comes from weeklybeats.
Love your progression smile

So many comments! Punkish drums, church-style organish thing, hairmetal riffs... what's not to like?

Holy comments, Batman! Cheers Aday & Vin, it's really nice when a track gets so well received, especially when it was fun to write in the first place - a double win!

Good use of drums pushes the track forward.  Kicking melody.  Nice one.  Production wise cc; perhaps a bit flat regarding the upper frequencies.  Even just getting the drum sound brighter/punchier would lift it I'd say  smile
