Exploring the instinctual ability to find repetition. There is an implied (unusual) time signature, explained in spoiler slot. The kick drum defines bar divisions, percussive twangs behave like a basso continuo and define the pulse.
‹ Patch Notes
Interpretable in 19/8 time, prime divisions of the clock are heavily employed. To find the implied time signature, try counting "ONE two THREE four five ONE two THREE four five ONE two THREE four five One two Three four" with the kicks landing on "ONE".
Main clock is a square wave LFO from Evaton CLX, divided in Tsyklon Labs Chaos Divider set to prime divisions. All random sources from LiveWire Chaos Computer; X is triggered clock/17, Y is triggered by clock/7. Random outputs are primarily used to vary timbres, other uses noted below.
Voices:
909 style kick: Tip-Top's BD909 triggered on 1, 6, and 11 of the bar, random accent from Chaos Computer's X Binary out.
Quasi-periodic Cut-in Drone: Sound is Happy Nerding HMVCO sine out through Intellijel µFold. Two LFOs from Xaoc Devices' Batumi are CV multiplied together and then rectified for the control of the LPG. LFO X square shaped and synced to clock/2, /3, or /5 sequentially switched by Chaos Computer's X gate out; Y trapezoid shaped and sync'd to clock/17. Delay sync'd to clock.
Percussive twangs: Sounds from MakeNoise Mysteron and Noise Engineering Loquelic Iteritas in a buchla bongo configuration with MakeNoise Optomix. A clock subsystem powered by RCD, reset on main clock/19. Triggers on clock and inverted clock. Delay sync'd to clock*2. Gate outs from both the subsystem and Chaos Computer are mutated through Xaoc Devices's Drezno and MakeNoise Maths for variations in both sound sources.
Bass swell: Sound source is STO's sine out through God's Box's Humpback VCF. Audio rate modulation is provided by the drone's VCO. The drone's square wave is VCA'd with the same envelope, then used as cutoff frequency modulation, and the sawtooth wave goes to STO's linear FM input. The main envelope also modulates the VCF cutoff and the main VCA. Main envelope is triggered by clock/17.
Performance is occasional muting of the kick and a per-part fadeout to finish.
