32 Weekly Beats 2024 Acutely Aware

Last week’s track was relatively fast and frenetic. This one follows in the same vein. I like chopping up samples and using them as percussive elements. An easy formula for me to follow is to go into my Splice library and finding a group of samples in the same key, loading them into Simpler instruments and playing around with different patterns on my Push 2. When I looked up the samples I used in this song, however, something seemed familiar. I thought I may have used them all before. So I searched for one of the sample file names on my computer, but I could only see the date the .asd file was automatically created by Ableton. It was back in 2023 and, since I organize my music files by year, I was able to go through my project files to see if I created anything around that date. As it turns out, I did use all of these samples before, but they were in an unfinished Naviar Haiku project. I am gratified that I was able to finally put these samples to good use in a different way!

Big fan of the syncopated drum patterns in the first half. Very effectively executed.
