25 Weekly Beats 2024 Passing Through

This is another ambient track with no percussive elements. I loaded all of the soft pad presets I could find in Ableton Note and started creating layers that worked together over the course of the week. I do have trouble with those presets because when I get them into the DAW, I notice the soft, sine-based pads have a "click" at the beginning of each note. I have to remove the stock devices and really adjust the attack to the point where the preset sounds much different. This is a part of sound design that still escapes me. Does anyone load up a really soft pad with the desire for a sharp click at the beginning of each note?
The track had no real structure when I moved into my main DAW and I had to listen and look at the parts in a linear layout in order to make sense of them. I know that I should be focused on listening with my ears, but sometimes I find it very helpful to see how the track and parts within the tracks line up with each other as I am mixing.
The song features a field recording of rain I took on my iPhone back in May. I have incorporated this kind of sound in my ambient tracks before, but I have never used one of my own recordings, only ones I find on freesound.org or Pixabay. I recently acquired a little handheld recorder and I want to make a habit of making more textured field recordings to use like this in the future.
