24 Weekly Beats 2024 I Feel Fine

By thgirwnhoj on June 10, 2024 12:01 am

My first late upload! Wow... Well, the first thing I will say is THANK YOU to the organizers and participants for being flexible. This track was far enough along that I was prepared to upload it this evening before the deadline and I even left myself enough time to sit down and do so, but I couldn't help myself and started adjusting the mix instead. I simply got lost in making music as I usually do and found myself trying to bounce my track as the deadline expired. I suppose that is a good thing for multiple reasons. One, it affirms my love of making music, and second, more specifically, it means I came up with a track that has some potential. I am not sure if I will work on it again - I have not worked on any of my other Weekly Beats tracks, yet. I am trying to decide if that is something I am going to do, or whether I am going to treat this whole Weekly Beats experience as an exercise in making music for its own sake.

What I've done in the past is (I always render both a wav and mp3) going back to that mixdown and further editing it (possibly) and I put one last finishing touch remaster to match whatever album/group of songs it is going with.

nice one, i like the syncopated rhythm and slight wooziness of the pads. great balance of upbeat and moody.

You know, that is a really great suggestion - committing to a mix, rendering it and only allowing myself to put a finishing touch on it. I'm sitting here again with a few minutes to go until the deadline, but this week I uploaded with a few minutes to spare. But it would have been less stressful if I committed to a mix earlier in the day. Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for the listen and comment. I really like the adjectives you used, especially "woozy" and "moody." I don't think I would have come up with those to describe the sound I got out of the pads, but that is exactly what I was going for.
