I wanted to go for something more subdued this week. My intent was to create something very glitchy, with bleeps and bloops over atmospheric sounds. I started out in Ableton Note and built out a drum rack with the types of drum sounds I wanted from my Splice library. I created a beat and found other stock sounds in the app, but I scrapped what I was working on. I had set my project to 88 BPM and I just wasn't feeling it. I turned up the tempo and built out a straight-ahead dance beat that I uploaded to Ableton so I could start building out around it there. I went looking for preset names that mentioned words like "space" and "atmosphere" so I could gather similar sounds quickly. That ended up working out, and I am glad because I had a late start on this project after participating in the Naviar Haiku Music Challenge earlier in the week. I did a slower, more ambient track for that submission, so this track really feels like it emerged out of that effort.
