mandolin beat

By theGuen on April 8, 2018 9:02 pm

Ok this one started some weeks ago when i stumbled across some old italian maestro who played the godfahther theme on his mandolin. I really loved that, and thought that would be hell nice with a cool beat. So i read a bit about mandolins and ended buying a quite cheap one on amazon. I did'nt find any middle class instruments... and it seems that they all need some tuning. Ok, so my mandolin arrived and it took me like two evenings to get that damn thing tuned... but i liked the sound, good waited one week to let the strings settle and it keeps the tuning nicely... So i've tried to play what i have heard... NO WAY... Don't know why i thought i could play things like that wink So it hangs on the wall for some more weeks...
This week i was motiviated to use it, but realized that i don't know any chord nor i now where the notes are... So my fingers startet to play what they are used to while my ears were moaning for some time and than said ...ok... that might work smile
As i wanted to use not too much samples i took out the udu drum which i also never really used one any tracks and started to play a little beat. I also recorded some eggshaker. I layered everything with some drums and synths. Sorrowly i don't have a cow bell so i had to play it on the sampler... was one of the most fun parts to play.
So here it is not virtuos not much variations... but i kind of like it smile

Hope you enjoy...

Have a good week!

Interesting Middle-Eastern vibes. I kind of like it as well.

I can get a good italian feeling out of this, don`t hear any tuningproblem and totaly love that beat.          A brandnew style is born.

Has a really good exotic feel to it.  The mandolin sounds great.  I like this track a lot!  I've got a mandolin I've had for many years.  I'll have to bust it out on something soon.

diggin' it !

Nice vibe, I like how it changes up toward the end. Mando sounds great, nice idea to use that!

Yes, very much enjoying the vibe of this one, I love how you decided to buy the mandolin

The beat that kicks in with the fast mando-licks is suhweet!

Such an interesting colour coming from this collection of sounds. Nice work indeed.

Thanks for taking time and for your kind comments big_smile

awesome beat and good story. the drums are nice and simple and let the strings do their job. i don't know any thing about playing a mandolin, but it sounds like an experience i would have had. i tend to just play every thing how i feel, rather than how it's intended. i look forward to your beats every week (even though i sometimes listen weeks later...) smile

Hey man thank you very much! I am still a bit nervous that this is public... you know like stage fright...
