A Wandering Soul

By TheExile on February 19, 2012 10:55 am

This is my first Oboe piece, and I`ve used a full string section for the first time as well! Dynamically it was quite hard to work with, and the piano roll sucks for building chords on different channels!
I really wanted to bring out a rolling feel to this piece, where the oboe floated across the sound of the strings, but I ran out of time to really get it into a perfect place, I started this far too late in the week, and I believe it needed time to develop.
Never the less, I will be re-working this piece in time, but for the moment, I think it is a suitable submission.

All criticism and feedback accepted!

And yes, for shits and giggles, I have provided a shoop of mine, as you can tell it`s a photographic masterpiece (I don`t even know if this html code will make the image work)

Yes, there is a picture of a bridge in the bottom left, and a gas station on the right. big_smile

Beautiful work man, this is really wonderful :]

Thanks man, I really appreciate it!

I really like it, more of the orchestral stuff on WB! I think it might have benefitted from a more central musical idea - but I love the first couple of chords & the last 20 or so seconds really sell the piece & your "floating oboe" concept.

Although, sometimes I think the only time an oboe should be floating should be in the few second after you've thrown it... Hard... Preferably out of a window of some sort. (Obligatory oboe jokes)

Good effort on the piece.  Further production tweaks would really help the piece come alive.  Quite an abrupt end for something that was floating smile

This has a nice human touch to it - good work!
