Lofi?

This is my very first attempt at lofi hiphop and my first track on Logic. Switching DAW's as musician who's used to working in an acoustic space is horrible (I have been using reaper, but it's no longer cutting it for me)

There are a lot of things I like about the track, and a lot of things I'll work on for the next attempt. Overall I think the track is simply "too clear". There's a vintage fuzziness I really like about lofi hip hop, and I just couldn't work out how to make that happen with the plugins/time I had available.

I'm really happy with the piano sound, and chord progression. I'm also happy with the drum beats feel (almost wonky), but not the tone of the drums. I recorded the flute and vocals through my laptop mic. I think I could still aim for a "less good" recording feel from both of these elements (saying that, using the inbuilt mic got me some of the ay there)

My review of the chill beats to study to: 5.5/10 - good proof of concept, shows potential, needs a lot of work (see me after class)

Damn, this is really cool, I love the vibe.  The flute part fits perfect in this, and I love that little ascending pluck thing that comes in a few times.

If you're looking to dirty up the audio a little bit, you may be able to get the sound you're looking for with Izotope Vinyl (free plugin).  I've never actually used it but I'm a big fan of the few plugins I have from them. https://www.izotope.com/en/products/free-audio-plug-ins.html

I enjoyed this, and liked reading about your process. Thanks for sharing smile

Beautiful vibes.

Hell yeah! There are definitely things that could've been done to lofi it up a bit, but this is a huge first step into it. I don't think 'less good' recording is the way to go though, record high and then edit to make it sound elsewise.

Very cool, I think I would have personally put the flute further away in the mix, but this is a personal choice. Keep it up!

Very neat, you're right, there's definitely something missing. Try pitching everything down by about 40-60 cents, maybe add a vinyl effect.

love it

I'd highly recommend a free vst effect called Devicer. It does tape warbles, vinyl crackles, and a lot more.
