The River

By TheDaeVolta on March 15, 2026 1:01 am

I did SO MANY takes of this, as I wanted to challenge myself to do this in a single runthrough, like a performance.

Setup was:
Syntakt -> Stereo into Ableton

Mic -> VT4 -> Syntakt -> Ableton -> Hologram Microcosm -> Ableton

Other than some quick EQ and a compressor - this is essentially exactly how this would sound live, which is pretty cool!

Do I LOVE this? No, but I removed SO MANY of my fallbacks, like multi-tracks so I can add/remove effects, change panning, EQ etc. As well as multiple vocals, melodyne, etc. etc. etc. Very proud of myself!

CC always appreciated!

[Spoiler=Lyrics]
The river takes the scenic route home
The River is sure to look around
The river bends around to see
the world

I can take some notes
from the river
I don't know what he's got
that I  don't
get the boat
my heart's a quiver
time to ride into the unknown
the unknown (?)

Seems directionless
but moving forward
destination nebulous
but looking closer
somehow
ordered

I can take some notes
from the river
I don't know what he's got
that I don't
get the boat
my heart's a quiver
time to ride into the unknown

Know where I'm headed
how I get there doesn't matter
story's been threaded
river goin faster
boat getting
battered

I can take some notes
from the river
I don't know what he's got
that I don't
get the boat
my heart's a quiver
time to ride into the unknown

The boat breaks,
I'm swimming with you
don't know where we're going
but it's with you
my raging river
my raging river

I took some notes
from my river
I know what you've got
that I don't
no boat needed
my heart's a quiver
time to ride into the unknown
with you
With You

Percussion smacked on my headphones smile last take was worth it! This turned out great

A bit eerie but (well...."and" if we're being honest about the music I enjoy) I love the line "I don't know where we're going / but it's with you".

Thank you! I don't think I'll ever do this 'live' again, it was a nightmare, lmao

Thank you! That line is one that when I first came up with it I patted myself on the back
