Hold Harmless

This week's piece started from a few different places, the main inspiration being a clip of a Berundian woman singing that I found on a blog about musical illusions. The drums are based around different groupings of tuplets played against each other, so it gives the beat a more floating feeling. I also wanted to experiment with playing some parts in live, which is something I haven't been doing much of lately, focusing on arpeggiators and sequencing instead. So, I played in the bass live and took parts I liked. Then I used that midi information to power two other instruments, but used some cool m4l devices to vary the midi messages being sent, creating a kind of human like jazz improvisational feeling.

Very fluid. I like the way the voice seems to be coming from in back.

Actually, now that I'm on your site, I like all your pieces.

This one blew me away, seeming how erratic things are but holds itself together enough to muster a beat. You know what youre doing
