i first wrote and recorded this song circa 2008-09 on a fostex mr-8 and touched it up in garageband. somewhere around '14, my mac crashed and i lost 7+ years of my most prolific time as a musician. around the same time, myspace also lost like every fuckin piece of music on the site, including the original recording of this.  this song effectively became lost media, and i was honestly so put off from writing and recording music having lost pretty much everything.

the group i was playing with throughout the '10s started doing this one live and some shitty iphone practice recordings exist from that era, but no studio or produced recordings have survived.

i've done my best to reproduce the original recording plus some of the better updates that were made with The Haps (i'll never be as good a bass player as brian).  original recording had an SK-1 for the interlude, but that thing disappeared years ago (rip).  the final verse "droppin' out" lyric was actually added during the original recording bc the bass file became corrupted at that moment in the song.  i decided to keep it as it was and play off of it and it became a permanent part of the song. i've done a bit more with that here.

anyway, this is all a cautionary tale. the internet is not forever. technology fails. back up your files. don't lose your shitty pop songs. enjoy the tune!

People be on this site be casually dropping indie pop gold as a weekly beat….

Amazing track, huge smile on my face. Tons of little details and influences, amazing production. Words fail, this is an awesome song. It hurts like hell to lose the old recordings…but man, this sounds fantastic.

I liked the old fostex gear, one of the first all in one multitrackers I got to use was an MR16. And thanks for the cautionary tale - I need to verify my backups!

Paisleyfrog expressed it much better than me already, so I just wanna join in on the praise. Love the mood and am impressed by the production.
