the host

over the past few weeks, i've been working on a score/"cover" of john williams' duel of fates for cinemadrome's sweded film fest.  i've always liked doing music for movies, but cinemadrome events are really the only time i find myself doing it.  so this month i'm gonna do some for fun!

also been watching a lot of early 2000s asian cinema lately. first up is "the host" (directed by bong joon ho and starring song kang-ho and <bae doona3)

not sure how much the track makes sense without the video. i wouldn't even put this in the realm of good, but i had a blast making it. looking forward to doing more (and actually having time to work on them)

Very cool. Love the changes of pace during the track.

(ok there is pretty much just one then the outrow that is awesome) But yeah, track is very cool, I was entertained all track long. Bravo!

I was on a walk and this came on and I thought ‘sounds like a soundtrack or theme song..’ yup.

This track is fully bonkers in all the best ways.

For the record, first listen was audio alone, didn't watch the video. A serious sonic candy store. So many different feels and energies in here, all combined into a whole that had no business being as cohesive as it is. Little bits had me doing double takes - that drop to a tinny indie sound at around :50, that fade out on Tchaikovsky. Made me think a bit of some of the music from The Matrix mixed in with Fall Out Boy, Cowboy Bebop and insanity smile

Listened a second time with the video. Can totally get why the music is bonkers, because the clip is smile

Great work getting those visual cues falling on the beat, and reflecting the visuals - scene cuts, that cymbal crash when that one guy hit the water, where the tinny indie sound fit, the theremin scifi sound when it cut to the wide shot of the rampaging monster. Awesome work, can totally tell you had fun making it - I sure had fun watching and listening!
