HURT US, HURT ME

This week's goal was to play with Waveform in Ableton and get to know it a bit, so no found sounds this time, just a bunch of synths I slapped together in my journey to learn synthesis! Given more time, would have added a bit more harmonic glue, mixed better, used effects to add complexity, etc.

The theme of this piece is a hybrid of two ideas. One is still wanting the "right thing" to happen in the world - for a belligerent empire brought to heel - while recognizing that the consequences will always be felt by the average people caught in its orbit. The other is the feeling of resigning yourself to be the punching bag, be it either because you feel it's deserved, or that it helps someone else, or some satisfying self-punishment under the guise of the previous two reasons. Stay safe out there folks, and I guess let's do what we can to slow or steer the collective plummet.

I can see you were leaning into the sound design this week, some very good sounds. Love the crunchy bit artifacts.

so much complexity to hold
you held it beautifully in this soundscape
