MY FIRST BEATMAKER3 TRACK. YO!

It was a big step for me to put down Gadget and go for it... but I'm glad I did. BM3 has some great things going for it: song arrange is way easier than Gadget, powerful sampler, works with all the other apps or inputs (I do have a mic/soundcard I didn't hook up this week).

But there's some downfalls too... Gadget is super quick, any time I want a new instrument it's NEW TRACK > SELECT GADGET > BOOM, if I don't like those sounds it's easy enough to switch to another Gadget without any overhead. In BM3 it took more time to set up and route MIDI to each soft synth I wanted to use. I'm sure I'll get faster at and everything just felt slower because I was learning as I went along.

AND LETS NOT FORGET THIS WEEKS PHOTOGRAMMETRY~

I downloaded Audacity to start making NI stems and do spacial audio for VR but... maybe next week?

thanks for the sound comments, voicing in BM3 is something i'm going to have to work harder at than with gadget but i think it will be worth it for the flexability in composition and tools/effects/instruments i can pull in.

harp is from thumbjam, one of my all time favorite ios instruments.

snare is layered with a clap from two different bm3 kits

the mix this week was super rough, didn't pause to mix it after composing and went straight to LANDR... noticed LANDR default made the hats too hot (was fine on low but wanted it boosted over all) so I went back and did that one mix tweak... up to LANDR again, done!

THANK YALL FOR DRIVIN BY

this is huge.

Nice work, I'm scared little now smile  We used to do Gadget songs, I always enjoyed the workflow and crazy speed!  It's like nothing is in the way.  Going to try to collaborate while one of us is on vacation in a few weeks.

congrats on trying something new!  ON DAT SOAP LIFE.

Dude, like it a lot! So many tasty little bit floating around in there. Only wish it was longer. wink

Regarding the size, I feel like 2-3 min is about the sweet spot for a beat for me. I typically layer on a loop until I feel like it's maxed out, then switch to arrangement and add in any bits I need to make that flow... if I've got time/inspiration do an alteration? alternate? complimentary? second? part...

I guess if I made longer tracks, that would make the mixing and mastering back and forth more worth it.

Yeah, Gadget is mega fast and the time I save not having to switch between things to get new synths loaded up is probably greater than the time I save with the ease of composition in BM3. SHRUGGGZ! Looking forward to hearing the collab results!
