was feeling the gallop bass this week. tried to keep it fresh with the influence from my recent dive into African EDM.
Spent about 45 minutes trying to dial in the instruments and patterns, 15 minutes recording and editing structure and another hour messing with fx, filter automation, sidechain values, volume etc. I might have pushed this one a little too far

Oh whoa this is super cool! There's kind of a dark vibe throughout. I really like how the higher-register synths pop out and hide sporadically. The drum patterns are super interesting and feel like they're a spinning top that's about to fall over.
I've never heard any African EDM - did you use a reference track for this? (Would love to hear more about the inspiration/influences

Not specifically a reference for this, but last week I did a more true to form attempt at "amapiano" music. This track is riffing on some familiar themes from last week.
