On Repeat (WB11)

Another cloyingly happy chord progression with contradictory lyrics. I got some new instruments this week and I quite like how this tambourine style thing sounds. Didn't want to bother with the amp this week so did the guitar and bass direct into the mixer. A couple oohs and aahs and that's that.

I'm also quite liking this production workflow where I scribble down some lyrics and brew on them for a few days and then scribble some audio takes together and rely on my looping and editing to fill the gaps. Perhaps some of these songs are even worth revisiting one day.

Lyrics:

On Repeat
I can't sleep
Where the windows are weak
And the neighbors don't speak
I can't sleep
I'm on repeat
When the shadows get steep
With no one in the street

Another day, withered away
Another song, mumbled along
Grin and bare it
Never share it
Grin and bare it
Never share it

Wandering our lives with sleepy souls and tired eyes
Wondering if our lies will catch waking or by surprise

On Repeat
I can't sleep
Where the windows are weak
And the neighbors don't speak
I can't sleep
I'm on repeat
When the shadows get steep
With no one in the street

Another day, withered away
Another song, mumbled along
Grin and bare it
Never share it
Grin and bare it
Never share it

I don't know why but it reminds me of darker Buddy Holly. Which I hope you take as complement!

Well done Mr.Tambourine man. The aaahs and ooohs are so soulful.

That's a nice jam, the chords aren't as happy, so it fits better
