Natural Consequence (WB01)

Hey everybody!  It's good to be back for another year of Weeklybeats!

Last year I took a strict approach of doing each song in one hour or as close as possible to it and I learned a whole lot in the process.  This year I'm going to take a similar approach but I'm going to ease up on the hour requirement.  If I can finish the song within a few hours of work I'll be happy with that.  This all with the goal of streamlining and optimizing my workflow while exploring some new thematic material.  I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback on the process/songs and also to hearing what sort of music others are making this year! (Although I admit it is hard to keep up with listening, commenting and making songs, I do listen to a lot of them.)

This weeks song took me about 4 hours in total.  About 1 hour writing and arranging the loops and instruments, 30 minutes blocking the sequence, about 1 and a half hours mixing and fixing the fx and an hour doing the master track with filters and compressors etc.  I found that I felt like I had almost too much time compared to last years workflow but it feels like it will be more comfortable particularly once I start incorporating recorded sounds.

First rate. More excellent tunes for my playlist.

Really liked the drums. Those samples of the spining clicks had me memorized. I liked how you held back on the low end. Just another stellar atmospheric track once again heart

This is great! Glad you're back for another WB!

Thanks!  It was my first go at getting my daw to cooperate in 6/4 and it seemed to work out pretty well.

heart I especially like the lead instrument and it's melodies. Looking forward to hearing from you each week this year!

the sound design is phenomenal, would really like to be able to work like this

Gorgeous work!

I can't believe you did this in so little time.  I love the variations and development.  Fav + Dwnld!

Thanks!  A lot of thought and testing went into each of the pieces before hand so when I wanted to take a melody that I had come up with and make it into a song, I can pick and choose presets that I've saved over the years so I don't have to start from scratch.  It always ends up sounding different than before and the constraint helps me keep the workflow fluid going from idea to project because I don't have to make too many hard decisions at a time.

Thanks!  I love to use variations and momentum to lead the narrative. Glad you liked it!

In my opinion, restrictions are great for self-improving. Glad to see more of that approach on WB. smile
Nice track and good luck this year!

This sounds like a sci-fi game soundtrack. I love it
