It's Not Supposed To Do That (WB03)

Got some help from my friend Rachel who laid down a couple of saxophone licks for me this week! big_smile

Threw on some big drums, recorded a bit of live bass which I ran through several compressors and overdrives to get a nice heavy solid tone. Inspired by the likes of Rezn and King Buffalo from a recent show and trying to get some of that thicc sound (tm). Put some finger cymbals in the background for some ear candy and tossed on a bunch of reverb, delay, compressors, phasesers, limiters, and a master chain with some gluey compressors to maximize the thicc.

Total work time about 6 hours over the course of 3 sessions.

NICE bass!

those are some phat drums for sure!  the mastering chain makes the mix sound like it's all been condensed into a sonic battering ram which i think probably fits your intent for this track haha.

This is a dope atmospheric groove!  Pop noir?  Very soundtrack worthy.

Very good production. Compression tightens the bass up more. From what I've heard though if you want the highest bass, no compression (but then it's more difficult to mix). Anyways, enjoying this!
